Is the Born Again Christian A Sinner?

13 05 2008

I was reading a discussion on another site, to which I answered (although I wasn’t exactly invited to comment ;-p)  The biggest issue they were discussing was ‘Is a born-again Christian a sinner? Or a saint and without sin?  The reference scripture was Rom 8:10: “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life bcause of righteousness”

Well…

The body (flesh) is dead because of the original sin of Adam and therefore our inherited sin. When you are born again, you receive a new divine nature.  The Word of God says in 2 Pet 1:4:

”Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

2 Cor 5:17 tells us that “… if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  When you are born again (in Christ), you become a new creature (creation).

Gal 6:15 says “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.”  Being that new creation is the only thing that holds any weight, the only thing that can excercise any force… the only thing that will prevail (availeth ~ ischuō in Greek: From G2479; to have (or exercise) force (literally or figuratively): – be able, avail, can do ([-not]), could, be good, might, prevail, be of strength, be whole, + much work.

We now have the nature of God in us which is incorruptible (1 Pet 1:4, 23) and is housed in flesh with the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19).  Your body is what gves you the right to function here on earth, and is a gift from God.  It is a ‘temple’ but not the real you that God deals with.  You will need to differentiate between the three parts of each of us; the body, soul and spirit (1 Thess 5:23).  That ‘inner man’ (spirit) that Paul speaks about (Eph 3:16) is the one God deals with because He is Spirit (John 4:24).

To lay it all on the line, I feel the best way to show it to you is through Romans 8:1: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Love and mighty blessing to you all…

“YOU SAY….blah blah blah….. God Says….”

This was a great reminder by Marcus Elzey on what the Turth is about ourselves… what God says about us as opposed to what we say about ourselves… and we all know which is more true!

Night of Bliss ~ Johannesburg

8 04 2008

Wow what a night!!!  Its taken me a while to post about it ~ things have been really busy around here :-)

We had been preparing for a long time here in Australia, and the week leading up to it, CEGC was fasting and praying, studying the classic book “When God Visits You” by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (due to having kids, I prepared here at home).  Viewing here in Aus started very early in the morning, and the day leading up to it ~ it was a very funny day.  To me, it certainly felt as if the world had stopped spinning and was holding its breath for NoB to begin.

We spent a long time in prayer at the CEGC viewing centre, then watched a bit of the dance and song ministrations… then without warning the man of God Pastor Chris appeared on camera walking in his dazzling white suit.  It was as if I had been winded and I almost fell down flat on my face (and some of the brethren actually did).

Throughout the service, Pastor released words that will not only change each individual, their families and those in their sphere of contact… but those words have changed governments, countries, and THE WORLD!

Thousands were healed ~ lives were changed ~ destinies were altered ~ miracles were wrought ~ calls were answered ~ people were refreshed ~ purposes were concreted ~ the brethren were CHANGED… all by the Word.

Go to www.christembassy.org or www.loveworldchristiannetwork.org  to get more info and order materials that will change your life for ever.  Stay tuned here as I post more in depth on what happened on NoB Jo’burg 2008 in posts ‘to come’.

God bless you real good :-)

Your Faith ~ Put It To Work

19 03 2008

Today there was such a great entry in the Rhapsody of Realities… “Put Your Fath To Work” written by Pastor Anita Oyakhilome.

The opening scripture is Hebrews 11:1 which is “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.  The Amplified says : “NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

I just love that!  My faith is my proof, my evidence… my assurance.  People wonder how we can believe in something we may not neccessarily see ~ but we have proof, and our faith is that very evidence.  Notice in the amplified how it says the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]Our faith perceives things that our five senses cannot, our faith perceives facts our physical senses are not sensitive enough to ‘tune into’.  Our faith connects us to the realities of the realm of the spirit (where all creation begins).

So if our faith is our ‘Title Deed’, there is no need to be passive any longer.  If you have something then acting passively and as though you do not seems foolish in a way.  Pastor Anita uses the example of James 2:17 which says “…faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone“.

So “… we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Cor 4:18).  We keep our focus and attention on the eternal  things of the spirit, because that is more real that what we can see with our eyes.  We live in the spirit and function in (walk by) faith… we are the children of God (Who is Spirit ~ John 4:24).

So if your faith is your evidence, proof, perception as real fact, confimation and title deed… how do we put our faith to work?

Pastor Anita puts it this way : “…if you truly believe God’s Word – that He is who He says He is, has done what He says He has done, and that you have what He says you have, then you must talk, act (behave) and live that way.” (parentheses mine).

We need to live the reality that what we receive by faith is more real than what we have in our hands.  We’re not pretending when we behave this way, we’re not trying to ‘attract’ something, we’re not trying to bluff ourselves in believing something by restrictng our actions, we’re not trying to convince ourselves… we’re simply walking in a higher reality, looking with the eyes of our spirits and walking by faith.

Put your faith to work… don’t stagger at the Word of God.  Your faith is the victory that overcomes the world (1 John 5:4).

Take care, God bless you mightily!

You Can’t Stop The Hand of God!

17 03 2008

“What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder” Mark 10:9

Have you ever read that scripture before?  It is a portion of the Bible in which Jesus speaks of marriage and divorce ~ however this verse doesn’t just apply only to marriage.

The Amplified Bible puts it this way ~ “What therefore God has united (joined together), let not man separate or divide.”  It doesn’t say “Who therefore God has joined together…” (although it applies too), it says WHAT God has joined together!

Also we read that God instructs us “…let not man separate or divide”.  Obviously God joins two things (people, jobs, dreams, love, prosperity, joy etc) together for His purposes.  However we clearly see that we have the responsibility to not let these things to become divided or separated.

If God has joined you and your wife together… LET NOTHING AND NO-ONE SEPARATE YOU!  You might say to me… “Well Angela, I love my wife, and wish we were still together~ but we’re already separated.  We fight all the time, she says she doesn’t love me anymore and there’s no way we can get back together.  We’re just waiting to get the divorce, and there’s nothing I can do about it”.

Yes there is!  Pray.  When you are in prayer speak this scripture with power…  really get it into you.  Declare (for example):
“Father, I thank you for my wife/husband _________.  I thank you for joining us together  in marriage, and I thank you because Your word says that what You join together, let no man separate.  I therefore will not let any one or anything or anyone to separate us: no principality, no power, no imagination or thought, no circumstance, no plan and no person ~ in the name of Jesus.  You joined us together Lord, and I declare in the name of Jesus that we will no longer be separated from each other.  I pray that we live together in happiness and joy…(pray for the needs in your marriage)” AMEN

Maybe you’re suffering a terrible illness, it may be something that is painful and debilitating ~ or perhaps it is paralysis.  Do you suffer from cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis?  There’s apparently no cure… no way out.  Nothing left the doctors can try… WRONG!

When you are born again, you received divine health.  God joined to you divine health and it is your birthright as a child of God.  God wishes you to be in health (3 John 1:2), and in Romans 8:11 it says: “And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.”  The original word for ‘restore to life’ is zōopoieō which means vitalizes, or gives life to.  So the Holy Spirit lives in you and brings you body to vitality.  This divine health was joined to you through the Holy Spirit, and refuse to be separated from your health ANY LONGER!

Speak to your body!  Tell it: “The Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead lives in me!  I thank You Holy Spirit because You bring life to my body.  Father, Your word says that by Jesus stripes, I was healed (1 Peter 2:24).  In the name of Jesus, I am healed.  This sickness will no longer be tolerated in my body.  This disease/cancer (etc) is not accommodated in my body… every cell of my body is filled with the vitality of the Holy Spirit, and I am healed… I am made WHOLE in the name of Jesus…” AMEN

Are you facing eviction?  Are you behind on your rent, and cannot see a way to pay it?  There’s simply not enough money in your bank account to cover all your expenses and you don’t know what will become of you?  Refuse to be separated from the house God has ‘joined’ you to.

“In the name of Jesus, I cannot be evicted from my home!  I cannot be divided from my abundant prosperity, and I am more than able to pay every bill needed in the name of Jesus.  I dispatch angels to bring to me everything I require and want.  I thank You Lord because You are my source.  You were made poor so I can be rich, and my prosperity is overflowing!  I thank You for my home, and my bills.  I thank You because You will be glorified through all this Lord, and I give You the glory and honour.  I thank You because I will not be moved in the name of Jesus…” AMEN

Refuse to be separated from what God has joined to you.  In the Rhapsody of Realities of Chris and Anita Oyakhilome, you learn God’s word which tells you that you have the birthright of abundance, prosperity and joy on the inside.  You have the life and nature of God… so go ~ and be blessed!

Miracles ~ In Your Hands

10 01 2008

There was an entry in December’s “Rhapsody of Realities” (Wednesday Dec 26th entry) that really struck me, and I have continued to meditate on it ~ and I just wanted to share with you all a few things…

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome wrote an entry called “What You Need For A Miracle Is In Your Hands”, and it just spoke to my spirit.

We read from Exodus 4:2 ~ “And the Lord said unto him, What is in thine hand?  And he said, A rod”.  This portion of scripture is actually showing just after Moses was given the charge to liberate the Israelites (about six million of them!) from Pharaoh, Moses asked the Lord “What happens if they don’t believe that you sent me?”.  God asks him what was in his hand and he wisely answered “A rod”.

Why do I say “wisely”?  Well, Moses could have quite easily answered “nothing” because a rod might not be viewed by a man as being significant… and we can see that it didn’t have much of a natural connection with the ‘conversation’ they were having.

I studied what it meant in the original Hebrew “… in thine hand”, and it is yad.  This is a primitive word that distinctively means open hand.  It is used many ways, and among some of the meanings it implies are:

“Power, means, direction, custody, dominion, enough, ministry, with (him, me, you), and service”

Really think about what the Lord is asking… He is also asking you; what is at at your disposal?  What is within you power and means to do?  What direction can you take?  What is already in your custody, what do you have enough of?  What needs can you attend to right now, what is with you in this instant?  What service can you perform?

This shows us that there is always something we have and can do, no matter what.  Born again Christians shouldn’t lack.  Why not?  Because all things are yours (1 Cor 3:21), and you shall not want for any good thing (Psalm 34:10).  We can see that Moses acknowledged the good he had, the positive things he had, and what he could do!  Like we said before, Moses could have replied to the Lord ‘nothing’ and missed out on the miracles meant for him.   But through recognising what he HAD, great things then came from that rod.

So what does that mean to us as Christians?  If you feel in need or lack, firstly acknowledge every good thing (Philemon 1:6).  The Lord is asking you to give what is in your means and power.

In the words of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome “Don’t be surprised when you think you’re in need and yet the Lord is asking you to give what you have.  At such times, be smart to recognize that a miracle is about to happen for you, for He’ll bless and multiply back to you whatever you present to Him.  It might be the last bit of money you have in your account; it might be your skill or talent; whatever it is, remember that its not the size or the worth of the thing that matters, but the quality of your faith.

Whatever you have is God point of contact to bless you; learn to present what you have to Him in faith, and He’ll multiply it back to you

Read Mark 6:37-44, where we see the multiplication and supernatural increase from such a small amount.  Acknowledge every good thing in your life, use your faith and present who you are, what you have and what you can do, to the Most High… because He causes you to increase in every area, and when you are seeking Him, you shall not lack ANY GOOD THING.

Every thing you need for that miracle is in you hands… set a time for your miracle and present what you have to God in faith… you will not be disappointed!

Take care, God bless you all mightily ~ until next time

Evangelism: Events or Every Day?

8 01 2008

Outreaches/evangelism events are just so exciting… to have so many people to preach to, the stories, prayers and ministrations that will take place… the souls that will be birthed into the Kingdom at one time. The fruits of your labour (prayers, planning, giving of your substance etc) pay off there and then. These events are awesome, and essential to the Christian individual and church as ways of preaching the Gospel to all nations.

However, I believe that we need to cultivate a culture of evangelism. We need to continue to train ourselves to minister to those we encounter on a daily basis; an every day effort as well as large planned efforts.

* Be an example ~ be the Message! The Word says to let your light SO SHINE (Matt 5:16), and your are a city that is set upon a hill that cannot be hid (Matt 5:14). Use your influence and be a light to your world, showing them the ways of the Master.

* Find a need and fill it! Read Acts chapter 8, how Philip approached the eunuch asking if he could help him understand the scripture he was reading. The same way you can express your abundance in Christ to those around you, which will (as an added bonus) build trust and an opening to tell them the Good News.

* Actively display your Christianity, and be approachable to others. Some people have never heard of Jesus, and others want to know more about Him, but don’t know who to talk to. Inspire others to find out what that ’something special’ is about you.
This is why I have started designing clothes, cups, bags etc, with short comments, which you can purchase at www.cafepress.com/christ_in_you1 These can help inspire questions from unbelievers (opening doors to minister), and spread the word that Jesus is the same ~ yesterday, today and forever!

Make it a priority every day to tell someone what Jesus did for them. Renew your committment to your individual evangelism, because it is not just the Pastor’s responsibility to bring other’s to Christ ~ and approach your church and find out what programs are running to reach out to the unbelievers in your area that you can participate in. You make a difference, and no-one can do things the way you can!

**BTW, I would love to hear about your personal and group evangelism efforts and outreaches! Testify and share what worked for you, inspire your brethren, and help them achieve as intensly as you have! Just leave it in a comment here…**

Is the ‘Commercial Nativity Scene’ Correct?

18 12 2007

We see it everywhere at Christmas time, on cards, decorations and displays.  A crude stable; Jesus in a manger, Mary and Joseph, various farm animals, a few shepherds and the three wise men bearing gifts.  The ’star of Bethlehem’ may make an appearance as well.

The question is, is this what the bible shows to be the scenario?  The record we have of the event of Jesus ‘lowly birth’ can be found in Matthew and Luke.  In Luke 2:10-12 we see that the angel of the Lord spoke to the shepherds and said:

10″… Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”

So the shepherds knew that his birth is taking place that very day, and sought Him out.  So far, so good ~ they arrive at the stable, which we see in our ‘commercial nativity’

However…

When you look in Matthew and read of the wise men coming to worship Jesus and present him with gifts, we find they were not present at the stable.  Why is that? well..

We read in Matt 2:8 that King Herod asks the wise men to “Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.”  Herod knew that Jesus would be a young child, as he ‘enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared’ (verse seven).  So before the wise men leave Herod, we know that Jesus is no longer an infant.

We read in Matt 2:11: “11And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.”

So is the ‘commercial nativity’ correct?  I am afraid not.  The only account in the bible of the ‘three wise men’ we see in the traditional nativity, that come to worship and bear gifts  of gold, and frankincense and myrrh, clearly shows that they found Jesus as a young child in the house, as opposed to a ‘babe’ or ‘infant’ in a manger.

Interesting, right?  Well, I thought so, and I just think of what other things society accepted as ‘biblical’ without finding it out for themselves…?
Take care, God bless you
